Los Angeles Lakers center Kwame Brown has been accused of stealing a cake from a man walking down a California street. Lakers coach Phil Jackson was pleased by the allegation, saying if Brown was that motivated for a cake, maybe he will be the next Shaquille O'Neal after all.

Notre Dame wide receiver Jeff Samardzija chose a five-year contract from the Chicago Cubs over a pro football career last week.
