While their careers as MSU football players have ended, six Spartans have been invited to grip the pigskin once again in various collegiate all-star games.
On Saturday, linebacker David Herron Jr. and wide receiver Matt Trannon competed in the North-South All-Star Classic in Houston and on Sunday, offensive guard/center Kyle Cook and punter Brandon Fields competed in the Hula Bowl in Honolulu.
On Saturday, defensive tackle Clifton Ryan is slated to take part in the East-West Shrine Game in Houston under the auspices of Pro Football Hall of Famer Don Shula.
On Jan. 27, quarterback Drew Stanton will compete in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.
Stanton earned team MVP honors for the second time in his career after accumulating 2,252 total yards and 17 touchdowns in 2006. He's also expected to be a high pick in this year's NFL Draft.
