A window on a CATA bus was broken Monday on West Circle Drive after a bicyclist responded to nearly being hit by the bus. At about 3 p.m., the bus was traveling across the bridge near the Sparty statue when the bicyclist veered into the road, said MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor. The 45-year-old driver was able to slam on the brakes to prevent a collision. The bus driver then yelled at the unidentified man about the incident. The bus continued eastbound on West Circle Drive near the Music Building, when the bus driver said the bicyclist sped up next to the bus and punched the driver's side window, McGlothian-Taylor said. The bicyclist then continued traveling westbound on West Circle Drive. Although the window didn't shatter, about $200 worth of damage was inflicted.About $250 in snacks was stolen from a vending machine in the Natural Resources Building on Monday. Two female employees saw three men in puffy jackets stuffing pillow cases full of snacks at about 1:45 p.m., McGlothian-Taylor said. One of the women questioned the suspects before they took off running and some snacks dropped from the men's coats. The men were not identified, and it is unclear how they broke into the machine, McGlothian-Taylor said. The case is still under investigation.Maggie Lillis
