People planning ahead for their holiday trips can purchase discounted Northwest Airlines tickets. The airline flies out of the Lansing Capital City Airport.

The sale runs on 37 different days from Nov. 16 to Jan. 8, and tickets must be purchased seven days in advance.

Travelers flying from Lansing to Chicago can purchase round-trip tickets for $148 without taxes and fees or to Minneapolis from Lansing for $193.

Northwest Airlines Corp. spokesman Kurt Ebenhoch said the sale, which is the airline's first at the airport in two years, was intended to boost holiday travel.

The sale varies depending on the specific date and destination, he said.

"It's for customers who have some flexibility in their schedule," Ebenhoch said.
