Susan Davis, chairperson for the Board of the Grameen Foundation USA, will be speaking at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26 in room 105 South Kedzie.
Davis will speak on the "Social Entrepreneurship: Empowerment for Sustainable Development."
The Grameen Foundation, along with founder Muhammad Yunus, are 2006 Nobel Peace Prize recipients. The foundation works to provide the poor with opportunities to increase their monetary means through access to financial services. The organization reaches about 2.2 million families in 22 countries around the world.
Davis' speech is part of the United Nations' nine-year series to recognize the education of sustainable development that began in 2005.
