A 17-year-old male Illinois resident was taken to the hospital after he was hit on the head by a falling object between 1:40-1:50 p.m. Tuesday at the MSU Power Plant. The man was working on the second-floor scaffolding on the exterior of the building when a piece of aluminum sheeting fell from the fourth floor onto his head, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. The man then fell from the scaffolding onto the second-floor platform underneath, she said. He was transported to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing for stitches, McGlothian-Taylor said.A 40-year-old female MSU employee reported an attempted breaking and entering between 4 p.m. on July 28 and 8 a.m. on July 31 in the International Center. A door handle on the first floor of the center was damaged, but no access was gained to the room and nothing was missing, McGlothian-Taylor said. The damage to the handle is estimated at about $50.A candy dish reported missing by a 57-year-old female MSU employee was found Tuesday behind the computer on her desk. The employee reported her candy dish stolen between 5 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. Friday on the third floor of Berkey Hall. There were no signs of forced entry into the office, which was said to be locked during the time period.Lindsey Poisson
