A 21-year-old male student riding a bicycle struck a male East Lansing resident driving a white 2003 Mercury four-door at 9:45 a.m. on Friday in the parking lot near the Old Horticulture Building. The driver was heading north toward East Circle Drive when the bicyclist struck his vehicle on the right side and flew over the car, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. The bicyclist was heading south and turned west on the sidewalk when he struck the car. "(The bicyclist) was in a hurry for his class," she said. The bicyclist refused medical attention from the East Lansing Fire Department for his minor injuries and admitted to hitting the vehicle. His blue Road Master bike was impounded.A 23-year-old male student reported his moped stolen between 2 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Monday from outside his apartment at East Cherry Lane. The moped was a bright yellow 2005 Beamer with a green Sparty sticker on the front and a red registration sticker on the back, McGlothian-Taylor said. The student parked the moped — without securing it — outside his apartment but took the keys with him, she said. The value of the moped is about $1,300, McGlothian-Taylor said.Lindsey Poisson
