Police briefs 05/30/06

A 49-year-old male was found removing items from the trash at 9:45 a.m. on May 17 outside the Amtrak station, 1240 S. Harrison Road, according to MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor. The man had a letter of trespassing — a form informing a person that they have violated one or more ordinances — on file with the MSU police department and was given a citation. MSU Board of Trustees ordinance 26.01 states that removal of property, including refuse, from the university by unapproved individuals is prohibited.A 58-year-old female MSU Arts & Crafts Show vendor, who previously reported a fraudulent credit card used at her booth, said the suspect returned later that day. Between 11:30 a.m. and noon on May 21 a man purchased $255.35 in stuffed animals using a fraudulent credit card. Later that day, the suspect returned to purchase $67.84 worth of earrings, two rings and a bracelet, McGlothian-Taylor said. The vendor informed the man that the card he used for his previous purchase was denied. The man said he would go find his wife to get the cash needed for both purchases. The vendor's husband followed the subject briefly, but lost track of him McGlothian-Taylor said.Lindsey Poisson
