Memorial Day events

In Holt

Lake Lansing Park South, 1621 Pike St., Haslett, will open at 8 a.m. Monday. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. there will be free parking, pedal and row boat rentals and hot dogs at concession stands.

A parade will be held starting at 10 a.m. Saturday in Lansing and will begin on Genesee Street and end at the intersection of Capitol Avenue and Lenawee Street. It will include veterans from around the Lansing community. After the parade concludes, a memorial service will be held at noon at the Little Arlington section of Evergreen Cemetery, 1709 E. Mount Hope Ave.

HOM-TV-21 of Okemos will be airing "Beyond the Badge" in honor of the men and women serving overseas and the Meridian Township officers who assisted with Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. The first episode will run on May 29 at 10:30 a.m. and will repeat daily at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. throughout the month of June.

In DeWitt, a parade will be held starting at the Memorial Building, 315 W. Washington St. The parade will begin at 10 a.m.
