The outlook: MSU had a regular-season record of 7-17 overall and 1-9 in the Big Ten. The Spartans finished the season with two road defeats. Northwestern is 11-10 overall and is 5-5 in the conference. The last time the two teams met on the courts, the Wildcats won, 7-0.

Look for: MSU is 7-7 when sophomore Nick Rinks is victorious at No. 1 singles, but 0-10 when he is not. At No. 1 doubles for Northwestern, the duo of Matt Christian and Adam Schaechterle is 11-8 this season.

With a win: MSU will face No. 2 seed Illinois.
