Restrictions crush Spartan enthusiasm

The restrictions on student tickets and tailgating have squashed Spartan spirit.

I feel bad for the current students who are unable to enjoy the tailgates and football games the way alumni did in the past.

I have been to two games, University of Michigan and Northwestern, and the atmosphere on Saturdays is just not the same.

The new restrictions on tailgating for students are just excuses for the university to make money, not to protect the health of students. The banning of drinking games at tailgates and the restrictions on parking times are jokes and have resulted in nothing but lame Saturday afternoons.

The use of student IDs for tickets has been a failure. Not even on Homecoming was the student section full. The section was better before vouchers and has gotten progressively worse with each new restriction.

I don't understand the reasoning behind these decisions, but they're definitely not planned out well.

I remember spending the entire afternoon, win or lose, playing football, barbecuing and just enjoying the fall after football games. Now, as soon as the final second ticks off, everyone heads home.

Proponents of these rules will point to the lower number of arrests as an example of successful rules. Of course there are going to be lower arrests when there's no one there!

Save Spartan spirit, repeal these rules and treat the students like the adults we want them to become.
