Monday Musings

November 21, 2005

• Federal prosecutors want access to hundreds of urine samples of Major League Baseball players seized in 2003 as part of the BALCO steroid scandal investigation.

This is the most demand we've seen for urine since R. Kelly's last video.

• In the Netherlands last week, a sparrow was shot and killed with an air rifle after it accidentally knocked over 23,000 dominoes in a world record attempt.

Now, we can understand the organizers being upset. But was that really a good reason to kill the bird? Couldn't they have just flipped the bird a few times and moved on?

• It was not a good weekend to be a Spartan. Football, men's basketball, hockey, volleyball, swimming — all losers.

If you're a Spartans fan and you bought a lotto ticket this weekend, just throw it away. Trust us. It's not your day.

• The MSU men's basketball team experienced an unexpected side effect of jet lag in its game at Hawaii on Friday. Four of the Spartans' starting five experienced cramping, causing each to miss at least part of the game.

Funny. We didn't know it was that time of the month.

The Spartans will look to rebound today in the first round of the EA Sports Maui Invitational against Chaminade. Too bad the tourney is sponsored by EA Sports and not Midol.
