Take a peek behind the curtain and test drive the NEW StateNews.com today!

Grad generalizes generation's views

Paul Wilk's comments ("Resident angered by tragedy response", SN 9/9) about MSU students were ruthless. Apparently, because we weren't crying, going door to door to collect rescue money and buying the first plane tickets (no doubt on our parents' credit card) to New Orleans, we have a "lack of humanity." Hilarious!

Not only is Wilk's overreaction misguided and misplaced, but is emphatically disrespectful.

Hey Wilk, what should we have done so as not to look like brats in your less-than-judgmental eyes? It seems that our candlelight vigil and ASMSU's active role in helping the victims isn't enough to please you.

Moreover, The State News' daily coverage, keeping the student body informed of occurrences in New Orleans, doesn't quite get the job done for you. Frankly, you should be embarrassed about your generalization of my generation.

I think I can safely say, without incident, that name calling from a 1980 graduate is childish, immature, ignorant, simple-minded and dull-witted; done purely to get a rise out of students.

But, I have better things to do with my time than get upset at an envious alum: Call my friends on my cell phone, talk about me, go eat sushi on my parent's credit card, drive around in my BMW and go purchase a new fall wardrobe.

Come on Paul, open those eyes and get a life.
