Monday's article on bike commuting ("High gas prices encourage alternatives to cars" SN 6/6) was a great boost to the local bicycling scene.
Hopefully many more of your readers are now seriously considering riding their bikes to work and around town and campus, even if they have to drive to their workplace.
Bikes make all the road construction around town and campus fun instead of totally frustrating. I ride my campus bike back and forth to a temporary parking lot on days I can't ride from home, which makes the nuisance of being displaced during the Morrill Hall/parking ramp construction much less of a hassle.
Students, faculty and staff might like to know that they can lease a bike from the MSU Bike Project if they don't already have one. Visit the project's Web site at bikes.msu.edu for leasing details and for more great cycling information.
