Media doesn't give Spartans chances

Before the Michigan-MSU game, I watched ESPN commentators joking about the Spartans' chances of upsetting the great Wolverines. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is sick of people granting the win to Michigan before the game is played.

The Spartans came into the Big House on Saturday like they hadn't heard any of the Michigan hype. Sophomore quarterback Drew Stanton and his rag-tag group of receivers and rushers made the U-M defense look terrible and the MSU secondary shut down Michigan's legendary passing game.

John L. Smith has had success in this program while using other coaches' recruits that were recruited for a different offensive scheme. He has moved players from offense to defense to fill gaps and has done so effectively. The recruits that he has brought in have produced. Lets not forget that DeAndra Cobb, the guy who broke this game open, was a very late pick-up from a junior college.

Despite this heart breaking loss to Michigan, Smith has shown the Big Ten that he can coach with big dogs and once he has his recruits playing for him, he will make a lasting home for MSU at the top of the Big Ten.

The Spartans played like champions on Saturday. And we should all be proud of them.
