Suspects attempted to get change for counterfeit $20 bills in residence halls Tuesday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.It is the second straight day of similar incidents, McGlothian-Taylor said.A 21-year-old female student reported a man tried to give her a fake $20 bill while she was working as a South Case Hall desk receptionist Tuesday evening.She told police the black man, who appeared to be 18 years old, 5-feet-11 inches tall and 190 pounds, requested change for the $20 bill, then left the building when the woman returned the bill saying it looked fake.The woman reported that the man had brown eyes, brown hair in cornrows and a medium build. He was wearing a black fleece hooded coat and jeans, and he had a gap between his front teeth.The student said she called police, then called the North Case Hall desk, where she was told the same man reportedly already received change minutes earlier.On Monday, two suspects reportedly attempted to exchange $20 bills for $10 bills in Wilson, Wonders and McDonel halls.The Secret Service in Grand Rapids is handling the case, and did not return calls for comment Wednesday afternoon.• A 22-year-old male student reported his car missing from Lot 91 south of Fee Hall on Tuesday, McGlothian-Taylor said.The student told police he last saw his car at 5 p.m. on Sept. 30. When he returned to the lot at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, he reported his 1992 maroon Chevrolet Cavalier missing.The car was allegedly parked on the east side of the parking lot, near Hagadorn Road.The student told police his door was locked, and no one had access to his keys.
