It appears a candle was lit and left unattended, burning down to the point that it started some of the items in the room on fire, Holton said. The East Lansing Fire Department and MSU Police were called to the scene and Butterfield Hall was evacuated for an hour. The damage was contained to the one room.A television and VCR were damaged, but the total cost and extent of damage is unknown, Sgt. Holton said. The fire still is under investigation.• An 18-year-old student was picked up Saturday from Armstrong Hall by MSU Police, assisting the Lansing Police Department, for not responding to a subpoena from the Ingham County Prosecutor's Office, Holton said. The student was turned over to the Lansing Police Department. Holton said he could not specify why the girl was subpoenaed.
