I just read Jon Gunnells' "Demand better from fast-food advertisers" (SN 10/26) and I can honestly say - brilliance. Pure, unadulterated brilliance.
I cannot remember the last time a columnist in any print media has so deftly handled an issue which is truly important to me.
Fast food commercials have really stunk lately, and Gunnells is absolutely right that Burger King is the only establishment producing any decent commercials. I have actually sworn off oven mitts thanks to Arby's.
My hands may be seared to the bone and dripping pus, but that is not nearly as painful as watching one of those awful commercials.
I have only one problem with Gunnells' biting expose on the crappy state of fast food commercials, and that is his treatment of the Chalupa. Jon. Jonny. Jonny boy. Must you dis the noble Chalupa?
What has it ever done to you? Has its deliciously crispy shell offended you in some way?
Has its velvety smooth baja sauce hurt you?
I can only assume that you have never tried a steak baja Chalupa - minus that nasty fiesta sauce - or else you would treat this hearty entree with a little more respect.
I hope that I am right, and your hatred is one born of ignorance, otherwise I weep for you.
