Police briefs 09/28/04

A 18-year-old man living in West Shaw Hall reported a threatening phone call Sunday just before 10 p.m., said MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor.The resident said he received a phone call from a number he didn't recognize so he didn't answer the phone. The caller left a voice mail, and the resident said he identified the caller as a former friend, a 22-year-old male non-student.Later that evening, the resident received a second phone call from the same number. He answered the phone and didn't recognize the voice, but heard the 22-year-old in the background. He hung up the phone, McGlothian-Taylor said. The resident told police the former friend left a second message on his voice mail, threatening to physically harm him.When police contacted the suspect, he said he had been told the resident was going to damage his vehicle. He said he was upset and wanted to make sure the 18-year-old wasn't going to damage his property.The 22-year-old promised not to harm or have any contact with the resident, McGlothian-Taylor said.• A 36-year-old university employee reported a door damaged in IM Sports-Circle between 5 p.m. Friday and 6:30 p.m. Sunday, McGlothian-Taylor said.Glass in the wooden door was cracked near the middle and bottom of the door, which was located on the northwest side of the building.Damages were $500 and police have no suspects.
