An Ingham County Jail inmate was caught five minutes after escaping from the Mason facility early Thursday morning, according to a statement from the Ingham County Sheriff's Department. The inmate broke out through a window in the medical department at 1 a.m., and traveled for two minutes to Cedar Street and U.S. 127 before being caught by Mason police officers. The Ingham County Prosecutors Office is seeking additional charges. Three school busses caught fire at Smith Elementary in Stockbridge early Friday morning, Ingham County Sheriff's deputies said.Deputies responded to the fire at the school at 4:30 a.m. after a bus, taken on a joy ride, caught fire, which ignited two other buses, according to the sheriff's department.
