Take a peek behind the curtain and test drive the NEW StateNews.com today!

Nothing 'campy' in promoting sexism

The Sept. 15 issue of The State News was one of the most offensive issues of any newspaper that we have ever seen. The issue is chock full of sexism.

The State News apparently decided that sexist advertisements were not enough, so you proceeded to include a lengthy story about some MSU students who used to show pornography on campus. The author of this story ("Risqué business" SN 9/15), left out several facts which any reader may have wanted to know. For example, the reader may like to know that the woman in the movie "Deep Throat," Linda Boreman, was forced at gunpoint to play the role. Thus, if one watches the movie, one is watching her being raped and tortured. There is nothing particularly "campy" about this.

With the rampant sexism found within the pages of The State News, it was not surprising to find that a man, Ed Ronco, is the editor in chief.

It appears that the editorial staff is doing very little editing of offensive material. Please do a better job in the future.
