McCallie enters New England Hall of Fame

MSU women's basketball head coach Joanne P. McCallie was selected to be inducted to the New England Basketball Hall of Fame.

McCallie will be honored at a ceremony on Sept. 24 at the University of Rhode Island in Kingston.

The Spartan coach will be inducted with several other prominent basketball names, such as Marcus Camby, Manute Bol, Sam Cassell, John Bagley and Rick Carlisle.

McCallie, who hails from Maine, coached the University of Maine women's basketball team for eight seasons amassing a 167-73 record and leading the Black Bears to six straight NCAA Tournament appearances. McCallie was the school's all-time winning women's basketball coach.

After departing from Maine in 2000, McCallie has led the Spartans for the past four seasons.
