At about 1 a.m. Saturday, MSU police arrested a 22-year-old Lansing female for carrying a concealed weapon.The officers noticed the handle of a steak knife sticking out from underneath a pile of papers on the passenger seat after they had pulled her 1992, white Oldsmobile over at Kalamazoo Street and Harrison Avenue.The woman said she had just moved into the Lansing area and uses the steak knife for protection when she drives, MSU police Lt. Scott Beckner said. Police confiscated the knife and are not planning to press charges, Beckner said.• A 22-year-old male student reported on Monday that an estimated $490 worth of goods were stolen between 7 a.m. and noon on May 13 from his Phillips Hall dorm room, MSU police Sgt. Maureen Kennedy said.The items stolen included a digital camera, a Canon Sure Shot camera, a box fan, a T-shirt and a pair of prescription eyeglasses, according to Kennedy.The student, who had an extension to remain in his room after move-out, said the door to his room was closed yet unlocked.Police have no suspects.
