Ingham County Prosecutor Stuart Dunnings III on Thursday reported that he charged Lansing resident Ricko Laron Lott, 32, with three felony counts.Lott, who allegedly shot at police officers who were responding to a home invasion and armed robbery call on Lansing's south side, was charged with assault with intent to commit murder, armed robbery and felony firearm possession, Dunnings' report stated. If convicted of all charges, Lott would receive two life terms for the first two felonies and a mandatory two-year sentence added on for the third.Dunnings did not file any criminal charges against Lansing police Officer Rob Vargas, who, after being shot at and wounded at the scene on Edgewood Boulevard, returned fire and killed another suspect, Dale Price. In a report, Dunnings said he would not pursue charges against Vargas because it was his belief the officer was acting in self-defense.A separate Lansing police shooting review panel will investigate the incident, the report stated. A natural gas leak occurred Friday at the MSU Veterinary Medical Center after a private construction company struck a gas line, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said in a report. The entire building was evacuated and there were no injuries, according to the report.Jonathan Malavolti
