Patrick Beeman, as a criminal justice major would you cease to prosecute a repeat offender of grand theft auto if you have already prosecuted him a few times before? ("Bice needs to stop beating dead horse," SN 5/25) Personally I look forward to Bice's columns; I feel like he's doing his part to enlighten a portion of society that hasn't learned to think for itself.

His latest column, linking religious fanaticism to mental instability, was his most interesting thus far. As long as religion runs rampant through our government, our society and foreign societies - there will always be war.

Albert Einstein said, "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence."

It's not until the people of the world dedicate their time and effort to pursuit of knowledge and truth found in the field of science that "peace on Earth" will not be just a cliché.
