Police briefs 05/25/04

• A home-invasion suspect was arrested after fleeing authorities in Holt on Monday, according to Ingham County Sheriff's Office Deputy Joey McGuire.Deputies were dispatched to the 1600 block of Stonehaven Drive because of a suspected home invasion in progress, according to a police report. When police arrived on the scene, the suspect fled on foot and then evaded deputies by swimming across a pond. Two police K-9 teams from the Lansing Police Department and MSU Department of Police and Public Safety and a Michigan State Police helicopter also attempted to locate the suspect, but failed to do so.The suspect was later arrested at his home in Holt and the stolen property was recovered from underneath a log pile after a witness identified the man, who will be charged today with home invasion.• Police have no suspects in the theft of an air conditioner stolen from Rather Hall, according to MSU DPPS Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor. The Whirlpool model air conditioner, valued at $150, was taken between 2 p.m. Friday and 8 p.m. Sunday, according to a 41-year-old female university employee. The frame outside of the first floor room where the air conditioner was located endured damages estimated at $20, McGlothian-Taylor said.Jonathan Malavolti
