What is it exactly?
It's a bulletin board made from commonly discarded moving-day materials, such as a computer box, a few newspapers and an old T-shirt.
Usefulness factor
You've just moved in and you have nowhere to put your memos, your old high school clothes and computer boxes. With this craft, you can put your room in order and use up all of that everyday clutter.
Materials needed:
- Cardboard from an old cereal box
- A large cardboard box (This is where your clunky computer box comes in handy)
- 20 pieces of newspaper
- 2 pieces of white computer paper
- 1 piece of material or an old white T-shirt, pillowcase or sheet
- Tape and/or safety pins
- String or wool
- Push pins
- Decorations, such as ribbon flowers, buttons, or pins (Optional).
Get Started
- Cut a cereal box to 8 1/2-by-11 inches.
- Cut the piece of corrugated cardboard from the computer box to 8 1/2-by-11 inches.
- Cut newspaper to 8 1/2-by-11 inches.
- Make a stack of all of your materials in this order: cereal box, computer box cardboard, newspaper sheets, 2 pieces of white computer paper.
- Cut the fabric you've chosen to about 10-by-13 inches.
- Cut two pieces of ribbon so the pieces wrap around the board. Tape the ribbon on the back.
- Pin or glue your chosen decorations to the board.
- Safety pin or tape a piece of string on the back, so you can hang your board.
- Slip your favorite photos or pin phone messages on your board and proudly hang it in a prominent place on your wall. Wait for compliments to be thrown your way.
