Police briefs 04/20/04

A 47-year-old woman with no university affiliation reported a cash box stolen from IM Sports-West on Friday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.The woman was in the lobby selling T-shirts to benefit the Special Olympics, and the cash box was sitting on one of three tables set up in the lobby. The woman left the cash box on a table while she went to one of the other tables. Police believe that is when the money was taken.Estimated value of the loss is $520, and police have no suspects.· Another cash box was stolen from a locked room in Bessey Hall on Friday, McGlothian-Taylor said.A 33-year-old male employee reported $35 stolen. He said he locked both office doors when he left, and the box was kept in a locked drawer.When the man returned to his office, the doors were locked. Police are investigating.· A woman with no university affiliation reported a window broken in Kellogg Center on Friday, McGlothian-Taylor said.The woman was a chaperone at a prom being held at Kellogg and said a man attending the dance hit the window with his hand, causing it to break. The man left before officers arrived.Damage to the window is estimated at $200, and police are investigating.Sarah McEvilly
