A 19-year-old man with no university affiliation told police he was assaulted in West Akers Hall on Saturday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.The man said he was visiting friends in the hall when he noticed an unknown group of men and women arguing. He attempted to separate a man and women from fighting when he was pushed into a stairwell.One of the men from the group then attempted to hit the man, so he swung his arm to try and protect himself, but missed and hit a glass covering to a fire hose. The man from the group told him to "mind his own business."The man received about four cuts to his hand but did not seek medical attention and told police he did not want to press charges against anyone in the group.Police are investigating. Two 19-year-old male students reported a burglary from their West Wilson Hall rooms on Sunday, McGlothian-Taylor said.The men live in adjoining rooms and said one door was left unlocked. The second room was entered through the connecting bathroom.Several DVDs, two video game systems and about 14 video games were stolen, totaling about $950.Police have no suspects. A 32-year-old man with no university affiliation reported his laptop and palm pilot stolen from Jenison Field House on Friday, McGlothian-Taylor said.The man was at Jenison for a competition and left the laptop with about 20 other computers on a table where the judges were sitting. When he left, all the doors to the gymnasium were chained except the door the man exited from. When he later returned, his items were missing.Value of the loss is estimated at $2,800. Police have no suspects and are continuing to investigate.
