Police briefs 03/01/04

A 19-year-old female student had her cell phone stolen from the IM Sports-West gymnasium between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. Sunday, MSU police Sgt. Randy Holton said.The woman was attending a function at the building and left her coat on the bleachers with the cell phone in it. The phone was no longer inside the coat when she returned for it.The phone was valued at $180, and police have no suspects.• A 19-year-old male student is being charged for assault and malicious destruction of property after pushing down a female student and breaking her cell phone Saturday, MSU police Sgt. Randy Holton said.The victim apparently was in the suspect's room when an altercation occurred over the cell phone. Injuries were minor, and the woman declined medical attention.Damages are estimated at $300.
