I am writing this letter in response to the story "Student accused of fraud" (SN 3/29). It is a shame that Denita Dorsey was so greedy that she would stoop to the level of stealing the identities of others so that she could purchase luxuries for herself, including a $40,000 vehicle. As disturbing as her crimes are, the fact that Dorsey is a senior who was about to receive her degree in a little over a month and now her future is up in the air is equally disturbing.
Instead of being patient and working hard enough to earn the money to honestly purchase all of the things that she stole with others' hard-earned credit, Dorsey needed "instant gratification," and because of that, her future seems to be jail instead of success.
Although it is sad to see a promising young woman put her future in jeopardy because of idiotic behavior, I do not feel sorry for Dorsey if, in fact, she is guilty as charged, because there always are consequences for one's actions.
