I am writing this letter in response to John Bice's column "Marriage a religious institution, civil unions should be for all" (SN 3/15). Bice, I have no quarrel with you expressing your opinion of any topic. However, I do feel that you could have gotten your point across in a less hate-filled manner.
Bice, I'll be blunt. To me, it is obvious that you wrote your article in a derogatory manner meant to anger and infuriate.
I read through 13 paragraphs of red herrings and hasty generalizations about conservatives and Christians before you began to propose an actual solution to your premise.
Let me clear some issues up for you, Bice. Not all conservatives are angry, small-headed bigots like you imply. The greater majority of conservatives don't have "hostility" towards gays. We don't sit in our rooms and reminisce about the days before women could vote. And Bice, our faces don't light up when we are reminded of the times in America's past when "race-mixing" was deemed immoral.
Bice, when I was a child and I was losing an argument with my brother, my instant reaction was to start the name-calling game. You do the same thing in your writing, even though you are an adult. Please, Bice, grow up.
