Wozniak right, TV's influence negative

In no way was Shawn Wozniak's column "out of touch" ("TV teaches people to value material wealth not humanity" SN 2/13). His insight is more in touch and morally correct than most college students here today. We need to hear this voice and question where we learn our truths from.

One cannot claim right and wrong are indistinguishable because of what they have seen on TV. In our hearts, we have a stronger self-yearning to be good and break free of society's "norms." Not everyone is wealthy and beautiful, and comparing ourselves to these people brings no enhancement to our lives. Instead of trying to be more sexual, thin or cynical, as we see on TV, try loving and accepting yourself as you are. We learn to degrade ourselves from childhood when we don't fit in. It's time to grow up and learn that you are made how you are for a reason, which you may not understand, but should appreciate.
