Police briefs 02/24/04

A 40-year-old male employee reported a data projector stolen from Kellogg Center between Wednesday and Thursday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.The projector, valued at $7,100, was used during a conference and kept in an unlocked room.Police have no suspects.· A male student, 19, reported damage to a Holmes Hall cafeteria storage room door on Friday, McGlothian-Taylor said.The door had been forced open and a lock had been broken. All items in the room appeared to be in place, but Holmes Hall employees are checking inventory to make sure nothing was stolen.Damage to the door is estimated at $500. Police have no suspects.· A 24-year-old woman with no university affiliation reported a monitor for an overhead projector stolen from Kellogg Center between Friday and Saturday, McGlothian-Taylor said.Kellogg Center staff told the woman the monitor would be left in a locked room, but after the theft, employees noticed a door to the room had been left unlocked.A computer and cables for the monitor in the room had not been taken. Estimated valued of the monitor is $3,500. Police have no suspects and are continuing to investigate.· A male student, 20, told police his car had been damaged and broken into on Saturday, McGlothian-Taylor said.The man's car was parked in Ramp 3 near Wharton Center and was locked at the time. An unknown object was used to break several windows of the car, and the dashboard was damaged.Stereo equipment, CDs, a leather jacket, backpack, calculator and textbooks were stolen from the car.Damage to the car is estimated at $500. The value of the stolen items is estimated at $2,900.Police have no suspects.Sarah McEvilly
