A small fire was reported in McDonel Hall between Wednesday and Thursday, MSU police Sgt. Randy Holton said.A male McDonel Hall staff member, 48, reported the fire that damaged a wall in the hallway. Damage is estimated at $300.Police do not know how the fire was started, but believe it was an arson. There are no suspects. An 18-year-old female student told police an unknown person attempted to steal her 1995 Honda Acura between Feb. 1 and Thursday, Holton said.The car was parked in Lot 89 near Mount Hope Road and Farm Lane. There were no signs of forced entry, and the student could not remember if she had locked the vehicle. Damage to the car is estimated at $500 and police have no suspects. A male university employee, 33, reported $65 taken from a locked office in the Paolucci Building, Holton said.The theft occurred between Jan. 29 and Thursday. There were no signs of forced entry, and police have no suspects. A 49-year-old female employee in the Department of Sociology reported a computer stolen from Berkey Hall between Tuesday and Thursday, Holton said.The computer, valued at $786, was kept in a locked computer room on the fourth floor. There were no signs of forced entry, and police have no suspects. A male student, 24, reported receiving three nuisance telephone calls to his Case Hall room on Thursday.Holton said it is unknown if the caller is a man or woman, and police have no suspects.
