When I saw the headline "Lack of defense hurting Spartans" (SN 2/13), I was appalled to see a picture of walk-on junior guard Tim Bograkos accompanying the article.

In a piece that states the Spartans show a lack of "defensive intensity" and do not have a "sense of urgency," I do not feel that a player who exhibits fewer of these vices than Tim Bograkos could be found on the squad.

Against the University of Michigan, Bograkos stole the inbound at the end of the game, and this weekend against the University of Minnesota, he collided with the Spartans' bench diving for a loose ball and immediately got back up to chase after the ball carrier. Players of the defensive caliber of Bograkos and Kelvin Torbert (pictured in the jump ball article on defense) deserve better than being associated with insinuations of poor defense.
