Women's basketball still undefeated

The MSU women's basketball team held on to its winning season with a win over Eastern Michigan on Friday. The team dominated the Eagles, winning 79-62 after cruising to a 46-19 halftime lead.

The Spartans (4-0) answered nearly every Eastern shot to hold on to the lead, despite suffering a season low 42 percent field goal percentage. The Spartans made 89.5 percent of free throws and 4-of-9 three-pointers to stay on top.

Senior forward Julie Pagel took leadership in the game with a total of 14 points, nine rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks. Sophomore guard Lindsay Bowen scored 16 points against Eastern to lead MSU in scoring for the second-straight game.

Bowen and fellow guard junior Kristin Haynie contributed a total of 49 points to MSU's 92-63 defeat of No. 17 Notre Dame on Wednesday.

MSU faces its next challenge Tuesday on the road against Oklahoma State. The road contest begins a stretch of five straight games away from Breslin Center.
