Three MSU volleyball players earned all-Big Ten honors this week.
Junior outside hitter Kim Schram was named to first team all-Big Ten, and senior setter Nikki Colson and senior middle Jenny Rood won honorable mention.
"It's good for the team to have players recognized," Schram said. "Personally, it's an honor."
Schram played in 111 of 112 games for the Spartans and finished the season leading the team in kills, kills per game and total attacks. She was also third in the conference with 4.77 kills per game.
Schram's first team all-Big Ten selection marks the tenth straight season MSU has had one player on the first team. This year was clearly Schram's best; she improved her numbers in almost every category.
"I think we could have had all three make first team, if we had finished better in the last six matches," head coach Chuck Erbe said.
For Colson, it was the second time she has won honorable mention; she was given the honor in 2001. Colson became MSU's all-time assist leader this season.
Fellow senior, Rood, also was named to the all-Big Ten honorable mention team. She led MSU with a .343 hitting percentage and like Colson, played in all 112 games for the Spartans.
"It is an honor to be recognized among the top players in the conference," Rood said.
