November 18, 2003

The MSU men's tennis team's fall season closed Monday at the Big Ten Singles Indoor Championships. Junior Andrew Formanczyk finished the tournament with a 4-1 record, but could not win a conference title.

Formanczyk, the second-seed for the main draw, competed against seventh-seed senior Chris Wettengel of Minnesota in a semifinal competition at the University of Michigan. Wettengel took the match 6-3, 7-6.

Formanczyk finished with a 9-4 overall record for the fall season.

The Spartans have two months downtime before opening the dual match season at home on Jan. 17. The Spartans will face Toledo and Wright State at home in the doubleheader.
