MSU field hockey's midfielder and goalkeeper take both of the Big Ten's top honors this week.
Junior Veerle Goudswaard took home Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors with two goals and four assists in two games over the weekend. She had a goal and two assists in each game against conference foe Northwestern on Friday and Stanford on Saturday.
Goudswaard has scored nine goals in 12 games this season. She leads the team in shots (53), shots on goal (25) and assists (8).
For the second time this season, MSU sophomore goalkeeper Christina Kirkaldy earned Defensive Player of the Week honors. Kirkaldy shutout both Northwestern and Stanford, stopping a combined 16 shots.
The two shutouts gave Kirkaldy eight in her MSU career.
