Our thoughts: Half of a sandwich sounds small, but it's about the size of a 6-inch sub sandwich. The AK's Grinder comes packed with salami, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and Italian dressing. It's a yummy lunch or dinner, with more flavor than most of East Lansing's other corporate, er - popular sub and sandwich shops.
We thought "grinder" meant grilled sandwich, but AK's version definitely skipped the oven. Probably would have been a tastier deal if warm, especially as the weather gets chillier. If you're willing to spend a couple bucks more, order the enormous reuben or pastrami classic. This deal went a smidgen over our $5 budget, but it's worth it since the grinder is filling. Grab good ol' Abe, beg your buddy for a quar-tah and order your meal in a bona fide New Juh-zey accent. We don't know why, it just seems right.
