The Munn Ice Arena offers open ice skating to the public almost every day and it costs students only $3.
Whether you're a wobbly twinkle-toes on ice or the next Tara Lipinski, ice skating is a fun afternoon or evening out - enjoyable year-round.
Worried that you might look like a goofball because you don't know a toe pick from a toothpick? No worries - learning to skate with friends offers a chance to laugh and point at one another as you clumsily slide around the ice like Bambi.
Don't have your own shiny skates? Not a problem - rent a pair for just $1.
Dewitt resident John Mikulka, 28, brought his nieces Darcie and Destiny Williams to open skate Wednesday afternoon.
"He promised us we'd have fun," Destiny, 16, said. "I wanna come back again."
The girls were on a half-day from Everett High School in Lansing and Mikulka was helping them learn to skate. He said he tries to make it to open skate about once a week.
"I live for this stuff," he said.
