This is a response to The State News column, "Spartan fans won't even finish this," (SN 9/22). I would personally like to thank The State News for this column. I hope that everyone got the chance to read this column and see how sad, yet true, it really is.
I came from a high school that had little school spirit. So when I heard about how much school spirit Spartans had, I was excited to be a part of that. However, as The State News said, many people leave before the game is over, do not know the cheers and school song and do the wave at inappropriate times.
The wave in particular bothers me. We get so involved in trying to make it go around the entire stadium that we forget there is even a game going on down on the field. Our football players practice hard to give us a good game. They practice almost everyday of the week, and, when not practicing, they are still thinking of the game and ways they can improve. I think as proud, fellow Spartans we should show them our support and really give them the homefield advantage.
