A Saginaw County District Court jury found former MSU basketball star Jason Richardson guilty of misdemeanor domestic violence on Thursday.
Richardson and his former girlfriend, Roshonda Jacqmain, were involved in a domestic dispute last April when Richardson arrived at Jacqmain's home to pick up the couple's daughter. After an argument ensued, Jacqmain said Richardson shoved her into a wall and kicked her.
Richardson, now with the NBA's Golden State Warriors, testified he had acted in self-defense during the April 29 incident. He said Jacqmain had a history of striking him during arguments.
With the conviction, Richardson faces 93 days in jail and fines up to $500. No sentencing hearing was scheduled following Thursday's decision and Richardson remains free on a $5,000 bond.
