MSU Rice Kitchen: $5.03

A lunch order for two of Kung Pao chicken can be ordered from the MSU Rice Kitchen, 551 E. Grand River Ave. for $10. The lunch special includes the main entrees and your choice of soup and two egg rolls or crabmeat rangoon.

The food: Kung Pao chicken as a lunch special comes with your choice of soup - we had wonton - an egg roll and egg-fried rice. Warning, this has the hot and spicy label on it, and they mean hot.

Total: $5.03 (including tax) for the full meal listed above

Place: MSU Rice Kitchen, 551 E. Grand River Ave.

Hours: Mon. and Tues., 11 a.m. to midnight; Wed. and Fri., 11 a.m. to 4 a.m.; Sat., noon to 4 a.m.; Sun., noon to midnight.

Delivery: There's a delivery fee of $1 unless you order $15 worth of food, in which case delivery is free.

Xtras: If you order between 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays or between noon to 3 p.m. on the weekend, you have the option of the lunch special portion of the menu, which is super cheap. And, as always, free fortune cookies and chopsticks.

Our thoughts: Can you say, "Wow." This is an awesome deal and you get a full meal, excluding drink, for five bucks. The spicy chicken and vegetables came with rice, an egg roll and addictive wonton soup for a super value on great Chinese cuisine.

We were adventurous and went for the spicy Kung Pao, and even after asking for it to be more mild than usual, we were still brought to tears by the sauce on this hot dish. So take heed, you won't miss that soda, at least not with this meal, but will prefer some water to wash it down.

As a perfect end to a great meal, try some fortune cookies. The only downside to the restaurant, and a small one at that, is that the food doesn't automatically come out in those cute, little, fold-up, take-out boxes, unless you ask for it.
