Business offers repairs, gaming

Jonah Duel, an East Lansing resident, plays Soul Calibur II on an Xbox at Fast Repair and Game Center, 543 East Grand River Ave. on Monday afternoon. F.R.A.G. Center offers computer repair services as well as PC/console LAN-Gaming.

Electric-blue walls greet visitors as sounds of characters throwing punches at one another in Xbox's "Soul Calibur II" resonate through the Fast Repair and Game Center.

F.R.A.G. Center, 543 E. Grand River Ave., opened on Friday offering computer repairs with system modifications and gaming,

Within two hours of its opening, about 40 people flocked to participate in gaming on the store's 20 custom-built, state-of-the-art computer systems, owner Scott Reschke said.

"The gaming part has gone crazy," he said. "It has been the No. 1 thing that has brought people in. Word of mouth spread phenomenally."

Reschke also said gaming groups in the area have expressed interest in renting out the space, which will bring large groups of people and leagues to the business soon.

"LAN-Gaming oversees the league, and you can get nationally ranked," he said. "We have four big screen TVs that have Xbox and PS2. Up to 16 people can play against each other."

East Lansing resident Jonah Duel, 20, visited the F.R.A.G Center after being enticed by the TVs.

"I'm totally into gaming, and it costs a lot less here than (other arcades) for a whole hour," Duel said. "It also has online, multi-player games, and the store itself is in a good location."

Okemos resident Nathan Cebulsky, 22, said the F.R.A.G Center will revolutionize the gaming industry, especially arcades.

"If more places like this were around, it would make arcades obsolete," Cebulsky said. "People will come here because you don't have to pay 50 cents a game, you pay hourly."

F.R.A.G Center also extends discounts for students and groups and offers a yearly membership that is half off the hourly rate.

Reschke said the business is primarily a PC repair store that will repair computers in as little as two to three days.

"We do offer on-site repair and delivery to and from the location if people don't want to leave their dorm, house or business," he said.

F.R.A.G Center also handles networking, small-part sales and custom case modification, such as engraving, airbrushing and adding fans and bright, flashing lights.

"The hardware here is topnotch," Reschke said. "It's kind of like tattooing for your computer.

"What Mitsubishi did for '(The) Fast and (the) Furious,' making car molding mainstream with fin-lighting and custom paint jobs, that's what we're doing with computer cases."
