This is in response to the conflicting attitudes on the Supreme Court's landmark jurisdiction and stellar preservation of protecting our university's interest in increasing diversity in higher education.
I am sick of the conservative one-sided slants I am hearing from the student Republicans at Michigan State. I am not over-critical of Republicans, moreover, I come from a Republican family - completely conservative.
But the brand of conservatism I hear spill out from the mouths of the MSU students can only be described in one or two words: Ignorance or idiocy (any combination will do).
It's true our country should not discriminate on the basis of race, therefore, when racism is completely resolved, then we can get rid of affirmative action based policies. I wish the people in the United States would just grow up. We're a more globalized nation now.
As Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O' Connor noted, racism is not going away any time soon.
The Grutter v. Bollinger decision has broadened a better aspect of affirmative action based on an inclusion and fusion solution, rather than a point system.
This decision was good, and it will help reaffirm all affirmative action policies, guaranteeing maximum fairness to all.
Embrace it MSU; don't disgrace it.
