Lugnuts' season opener rained out

Lansing - The Lansing Lugnuts' season opener was postponed Thursday night after a steady rainstorm pelted the stadium.

Lansing left-hander Ryan Sisco (0-0) had a strong start in his Lugnut debut, striking out the first two batters from South Bend. But before he could finish the inning, driving rains forced fans and players to scurry for shelter.

The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader tomorrow, and will begin in the bottom third of the first inning with Silver Hawk first baseman Sean Luellwitz up to bat. The first pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m., with the nightcap beginning immediately after. Both games will take place at Oldsmobile Park, 505 E. Michigan Ave. in Lansing.

Fans who present the ticket stub from tonight's rain delay will receive free admission to a game of their choice for the remainder of the 2003 season.
