Icarus Falling is presenting the play "Raised in Captivity" this weekend at the Creole Gallery, 1218 Turner St. in Lansing.
The play is written by Nicky Silver and is about Sebastian, who left home at the age of 16. He had never returned until the time of the play because of his dying mother.
Director Jeff Croff said Sebastian has to deal with his neurotic sister.
"It offers a very vivid story," he said. "Nicky Silver writes really dynamically, and the script was easy to visualize."
The play also addresses homosexual themes and Croff said the issues are so universal, many people will feel at home with the play.
Silver has been around for about seven or eight years and has become a pretty well known playwright in her own right, Croff said.
"It has a great deal of humor and it just demands attention," he said.
The play will run until March 29 and tickets are $10.
