When Angie Dickinson walked into Totally Takeout on Wednesday afternoon, instinct took over.
Eating at Wilson Hall's Totally Takeout twice a week, the advertising freshman knew exactly what she was craving.
Nonchalantly walking over to the snack stand near the nachos and hot dogs, she grabbed four Smucker's Uncrustables and tossed them onto her tray.
She was good to go.
"You can't just eat one," Dickinson said of the tiny, decrusted peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. "You have to eat two."
Totally Takeout is a welcomed convenience for MSU students rushing to class, who missed dinner or need to take their food to go before working off-campus.
One of the perks of Totally Takeout is students can pick and choose what they want.
"It's all about what you like," Food Services Coordinator Bruce Haskell said. "We provide the opportunity for students to experiment with different choices."
Before calling it a night, zoology sophomore Joe Deppen pays a routine visit to Totally Takeout, grabbing one more quick bite before hitting the books. Deppen, who likes a variety of food, isn't afraid to experiment.
"Every now and then I'll top my pizza with pretzels and mustard," he said.
Deppen isn't the only frequent visitor who likes to add to the taste of his pizza.
After reaching for a pepperoni pizza, Ryan Forbes made his way to the potato chips stand.
"There's nothing wrong with adding chips to your pizza for a crispier taste," said the turfgrass management freshman, whose drink of choice is often a combination of Powerade and Kool-Aid.
Haskell said the to-go service offers monthly specials intended to find out what students prefer.
Last month, students said goodbye to Hot Pockets and were able to try the choice of frozen White Castle hamburgers. In March, students can choose from microwavable Kraft Cheese & Macaroni pouches, and in April, Bosco 7-inch cheese pizzas.
After spring break, Totally Takeout will feature a tuna salad kit that allows students to put together their own salad or sandwich and mix in condiments such as relish and Miracle Whip Salad Dressing.
